Hunger Games 2 – Catching Fire Plans to Have Simon Beaufoy as Screenwriter

The first Hunger Games movie is still not out, however, Lionsgate has already announced that it will adapt the second Hunger Games book entitled Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins into a film. By the way, it’s already official that Catching Fire will be released on November 22, 2013.
Director Gary Ross was originally going to pen the script alone with Suzanne Collins, but due to the post-production schedule of The Hunger Games and the desire for a high quality second film. Now, they target Simon Beaufoy to write the screenplay for the sequel. Simon Beaufoy is not your ordinary screenwriter; he had written scripts for award-winning movies like 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire, and The Full Monty.
The Hunger Games comes to theaters March 23rd, 2012 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Isabelle Fuhrman, Alexander Ludwig, and Amandla Stenberg. The film is directed by Gary Ross.
