ODESSA – Hunger Games fever has hit the Basin. The sensational movie and book has generated fans across the globe. In Odessa, a group of elementary kids got a chance of a lifetime to speak with one of the stars from the movie.

Amandla Stenberg played “Rue” in the movie. When they first heard the news, the kids had a hard time believing what they were going to do.

“Oh, I thought she was kidding at first,” Ireland Elementary Student, Javorian Jackson, said.

“I kept thinking this is not real but yeah I didn’t even know that I had been entered into the contest,” Ireland Elementary 6th grade teacher, Tabitha Rosales, said.

Scholastic’s had a contest going on and they had automatically entered Rosales into the contest after she bought several of the Hunger Games books.

“Scholastics had notified me that I had been entered into a Skype contest and I had won,” Rosales said.

On Friday, students got a chance to talk to Amandla one on one and ask her questions, about how the movie was made, what she liked the most and about the other characters. Overall, the kids loved the experience and will never forget it.

“I’m excited, I am sad that it’s over now but it was really awesome! I loved it,” Ireland Elementary Student, Audrey Lujan, said.

“I learned a lot of stuff I wouldn’t know,” Ireland Elementary Student, Alexis Ramirez, said.

Hunger Games Special Issue of People Magazine – Read Previews of the Contents

Here is an official press release about the special collector’s issue of People Magazine for the movie Hunger Games. Thanks www.hungergamestrilogy.net for this. See this post, for the preview pics from Just Jared:

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The countdown has begun to the most anticipated film opening since the Twilight series: The Hunger Games, which hits theaters nationwide on March 23. In anticipation, PEOPLE magazine celebrates with a special collector’s issue, All About The Hunger Games, that introduces Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, and the rest of the cast. Featuring behind-the-scenes scoop on how the spectacular costumes were created and how the stars trained for their roles, this special newsstand-only collector’s issue of PEOPLE is loaded with tons of fabulous photos from the movie, exclusive interviews, insider secrets, and all the style information needed to dress like a tribute. The following links to a $1 off coupon (participating retailers include Walmart, Target, BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com):
Peeta Mellark Josh Hutcherson reveals why he’s perfect to play courageous baker’s son Peeta, his most intense day of shooting, and what he loves about leading lady Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer “always says what she thinks,” Hutcherson tells PEOPLE. “A lot of people are too worried they’re going to offend someone, so I found that really admirable.” He also reveals, “I got a minor concussion during filming when Jennifer accidentally kicked me in the head. We were goofing off, shadowboxing, and suddenly her boot hit me in the temple.”
Gale HawthorneLiam Hemsworth talks about why he was drawn to the role of Gale – and whether he’s ready for Hunger Games mania. He tells PEOPLE that during the filming of the reaping, “It’s pretty horrific to watch little kids go through that process. It was also really hot. We were in the sun all day, and some of the extras actually collapsed.”
Effie TrinketElizabeth Banks delivers the scoop on how she transformed into the Capitol’s devilish diva. “Katharine Hepburn was an inspiration for the voice – the cadence, the wit, the preponderance of etiquette,” she tells PEOPLE.
Get Katniss’s Look – How to achieve the rustic vibe (from both District 12 and the Games) and the outfit from her Games interview. “I only cared about the boots. I had to wear them every day, do all my stunts in them,” Jennifer Lawrence tells PEOPLE. “They were the most important part of everything, and they were perfection.”
Up Close with Rue – Hanging out with 13-year-old Amandla Stenberg, the actress who plays a key role in the Games. She tells PEOPLE, “We were filming in a meadow, and someone stepped on a hornets’ nest near me. Jennifer came to the rescue. She picked me up and pulled me out of the swarm.”
Behind the Scenes – On-set secrets from the movie’s director, production designer, and makeup artist. “We weren’t trying to recreate a 1920s Depression-era environment, but we used it as our foundation,” production designer Philip Messina tells PEOPLE. “We wanted to create a place that felt like people did 14 hours of physical labor a day and weren’t getting enough to eat. Where the citizens are always one step away from giving up.”
Friends and Foes – A-list costars Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland talk about taking on their pivotal roles in the movie.
PEOPLE’s Special Collector’s Issue, All About The Hunger Games, in on newsstands March 2 – March 30.

Hunger Games Cast on AMC Theater

Watch the video below for an interview by AMC theater to Hunger Games movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks. The interview per cast is pretty short and I think it is some sort of preview for a longer interview. I don’t know when they’re going to release that but I think it’ll be before the 23rd of March. Let’s just wait for but as of now, enjoy the video. The cast talks about meeting fans’ expectations, being fan of the books, Mr. Harrelson’s advice to Jen and Josh, and surviving the real Hunger Games.
